WaxSync Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 July 2026

WaxSync helps you track bicycle chain wax wear and manage chain rotations. We designed it to keep your data on your device and to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what the app does with your information.

The short version

Data stored on your device

Everything you create in WaxSync (bikes, chains, wax profiles, logged rides, maintenance history and any bike photos you add) is stored locally on your device in the app's private container. It is not uploaded to us. Deleting the app, using "Erase All Data & Settings" in Settings, or deleting an individual bike removes that data from your device.

Strava connection (optional)

If you choose to connect Strava, WaxSync uses Strava's official sign-in to get your permission, then reads your athlete profile, your bikes (gear), and your activities so it can update your chain wear automatically. This information is fetched directly from Strava to your device and stored locally.

Purchases

WaxSync is free to manage one bike. Managing additional bikes is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Whether you have purchased the unlock is provided to the app by Apple.

Notifications

If you turn on notifications, WaxSync schedules reminders (such as when a chain is due for wax) locally on your device. These are not push notifications from a server, and no data leaves your device to create them.

Data we do not collect

WaxSync contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking software. We do not collect usage data, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not use your data to train machine-learning models.

Children

WaxSync is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
